Multi Commander is a freeware* multi-tabbed file manager for netbook users. It is an alternative of Windows Explorer. It uses the efficient dual-panel layout making it is easy to manage files even on a small screen like that of a netbook. The application lets you complete advanced task easily.

When you run it the first time, you can select which type of control you want. You can select between Commander style or standard explorer style or even customize it. It has all the standard features like a file manager has like copy, move, rename, view, etc. The application can do advanced tasks like auto-unpacking, auto-sorting, browsing inside archives, scripting, searching, etc. The best thing, you can control all those tasks using your keyboard.

The default keyboard setup is a bit different from what Windows Explorer is using, Like F5 is Copy , F6 Move , F7 Make Directory, etc. You don’t have to feel lost though because of the non-standard shortcuts for copy-paste, as all the hot keys are customizable.

When selecting multiple files and folders you can use the keyboard or mouse. It will remember the choice you have done even if you go out of the current folder and later come back to the same folder again. If a copy operation fails in Multi Commander, it lets you keep the broken files. This can be useful when copying from a file from a bad USB memory or corrupt archives.
